Lord, you have searched me and known me.
   You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
    you discern my thoughts from far away. You search out my path and my lying down,
    and are acquainted with all my ways.

— Psalm 139:1-3

Here in my back yard, I can come before the Creator, breathe deep, give thanks, confess, wonder, plea, stammer, argue, listen, wait, receive and, in the end, trust God–in prayer.

For me, this feels like the most intimate territory of the entire blog. How do I begin to find the words that begin to capture communing with God who, through the death and resurrected life of Jesus Christ, who calls us his beloved?

To pray is to be still in and through an act of listening.

And so I sit where Jesus has already pulled up a chair and bring to him whatever is on my mind and heart and everywhere in between.

How does prayer unfold for you?
